Poquito Park Project

Poquito Creek is a tributary of Boggy Creek, which then flows into the Colorado River. The subject area is just before the confluence of Poquito and Boggy Creek, from the Cap Metro rail bridge to the Northwestern Street bridge (shown in yellow below).

Underutilized in the community as park space and underutilized in limited urban perennial stream ecology in East Austin, this portion of Poquito Creek was identified as an attainable stretch for grant funded restoration.

"Attainable" in six ways (to be described below);

  • accessibility
  • size
  • proximity of past water resource and pedestrian efforts
  • immediate community park-needs and immediate community support
  • presence of water
  • measurable results
